Norton St Philip, Bath – 5 Bed Luxury New Build

Show Home Styling – Furniture Rental

This house was one of 3 luxury homes on a small development just outside Bath. The builders had worked to an exceptionally high specification and the house was beautifully finished… but empty.

Their estate agent asked me to get involved to put forward a plan for some simple but elegant, show home furnishings; nothing too showy or bright (definitely no plug in air fresheners!) and nothing hung on the walls or that would damage the finish in any way.

The house had been marketed for a while and buyers were struggling to recognise the value of the home. Without any finishing touches; flooring or furnishings, it was a huge empty shell and other than the obvious (kitchen and bathrooms etc.) it wasn’t easy at first viewing to decide on the function of each room.

Once the builders had agreed the quote – the final finishes e.g. wall colours, carpets, hard flooring etc. were completed pretty quickly and I had a week or so to pull it all the furniture and accessories together.

A summer launch, right in the middle of the school holidays is never ideal, but the planned open day was a reasonable success. Feedback for the builder’s first, official, fully-styled, show-home was extremely positive. The house quickly went under offer and was sold in good time, so much so that the rental period was still current and an agreement was worked out to move the whole package to another of their sites, for show-home dressing.
